Performance vs Features

Performance vs Features

Germany built the world’s most desirable cars, and in today’s reality China may be redefining what makes a car desirable.

For decades, the formula was clear:

🇩🇪 GERMANY
Engineering. Performance. Heritage. Prestige.

The next automotive war won’t just be fought under the bonnet. It will be fought over the definition of desirability.

Now China is challenging the formula:

🇨🇳 CHINA
Technology. Software. Speed. Experience.

BYD, Zeekr, NIO and XPeng aren’t trying to become German car companies, and that is the central point as they are trying to change the context of competition.

The Germans perfected the machine, whilst the Chinese are increasingly reinventing the experience around the machine.

The brand challenge is therefore ‘What if tomorrow’s buyer values software, intelligence, connectivity and innovation as much as horsepower, handling and heritage?’

Does 100 years of automotive history remain an advantage or eventually become baggage?

The next automotive war won’t just be fought under the bonnet. It will be fought over the definition of desirability.
